# Sharing your unique map link

{% hint style="info" %}
To copy the link or download the QR code, you need to [publish your map](/sharing-your-map/publishing-your-map.md) first. These options appear only once the map state is **Live**. You can [change your map link](#change-your-map-link) at any time.
{% endhint %}

In the navigation bar on the left, select **Publish map**. Under **Share this map**, select **Copy link** at the end of the link field. Maps shows `Map link copied successfully`.

Share your map link with citizens via posters, websites, or messages for quick access.

Under **QR code**, select **Download PNG** to save the map's QR code. You can add it to posters or slides so that citizens can scan it to open your map directly.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Anyone you share the link with can open the map only if its access type is **Public map**. On a [private map](/sharing-your-map/making-a-map-private.md), people who are not on the audience list are asked to sign in and do not see the map.
{% endhint %}

You may also consider [embedding your map on a webpage](/sharing-your-map/embedding-maps-to-your-website.md) or using go.gov.sg links for wider reach.

## Change your map link

You must be the map's **Owner** or an **Editor**. You can change the link of a draft map or a live map.

{% hint style="warning" %}
On a live map, the old link stops working as soon as you save. Anyone who uses the old link — including embeds on websites and printed QR codes — needs the new one. Download a new QR code and update your embed code after you change the link.
{% endhint %}

1. In the navigation bar on the left, select **Publish map**.
2. Under **Share this map**, select **Edit**.
3. Enter the new link. Use at least 6 characters: lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores. The link must start and end with a letter or number.
4. Wait for `Map link is available` to appear under the field.
5. Select **Save**.

Maps shows `Map link updated successfully`. To keep the current link, select **Cancel**.

If the field shows `Map link is taken. Please enter another map link.`, another map uses that link or used it before. Enter a different link. Your map keeps its old links reserved, so you can change back to one of them later.
